This is a map of my bike tours in South America, in the winters of 2019-2020 and 2022-2023, showing the peaks I climbed (with links to the associated posts) and my approximate route by bike. The red line is my first leg, from Santiago north to Copiapo; the blue is the second, from Santiago south to Bariloche and Osorno. In mid-March 2020 I returned to the States, having cycled approximately 3000 miles with 103,000 feet of elevation gain, and with much unfinished business left in the Andes.
Between mid-December 2022 and early March 2023, I rode from Santiago, Chile to Ushuaia, Argentina (green line), bagging a handful of peaks along the way. This trip involved 3027 miles and 171k feet of climbing by bike, and 363 miles and 146k feet on foot.
