Yea, pretty sure that crack in the middle of the photo is what I went up! Something resembling a left-leaning lieback felt the least awkward way of doing it. Sounds like it went easier for you left of that??? I found this lower move harder than the upper chimney. A part of me now wishes I joined to learn from what you did.
I’m probably not the best to watch for climbing technique. I went up that chimney/crack, working my left foot up the diagonal crack to its left and using my right either stemming or stepping on stuff inside the main crack. Often staying outside a feature like that feels less secure, but is easier.
