Peaks near Molas Pass

I got in a couple more days’ climbing before the weather turned bitterly cold, and got some nice pictures, even remembering to have my climbing partner take photos of me flailing.

I also got a chance to second a short dry-tooling route. It wasn’t hard to figure out foot placement with crampons — you can’t smear, but you can latch onto tiny flakes with the front points. However, tool placement was a bit trickier — wedging the pick in cracks and hooking larger ledges worked as expected, but I wasn’t able to hook smaller flakes that I thought should hold me. Maybe I wasn’t pulling down at the right angle.
