A bit of history

In the right light, you can still see a painted “CU” on the third flatiron. (Los Alamos natives may appreciate the similarity to the “LA” on “LA mountain.”) I just ran across an article explaining its history. It’s amazing how much things have changed since 1949, when two freshmen scrambled halfway up the flatiron in the middle of the night with no gear, carrying paint, brushes, and a broom, to put up graffiti visible for miles.
